The UFC announced earlier in the year it would release action figures of its fighters with JAKKS Pacific for every little MMA fan and big kids like myself alike. Now in a press release JAKKS Pacific has announced it will also release action figures of Zuffa’s other two promotions WEC and Pride as well.

“We are thrilled to extend our relationship with UFC by adding WEC and PRIDE to our action figure roster,” said Stephen Berman, President and COO, JAKKS Pacific. “As the world leader in fighting action figure toys, we plan on dominating the Mixed Martial Arts collector action figure arena. The addition of WEC and PRIDE gives JAKKS a substantial base of fighters with which to work and develop into a broad and exciting line of collectable products for fans.”

“This agreement with JAKKS gives fight fans a premier line of authentic collector action figures,” said Dana White, UFC President. “This is a great partnership that benefits the sport, our athletes and our fans.”

This is pretty shocking to see that they are actually releasing the Pride action figures as well. It raises questions as to which fighters will actually be released for the line. We know that Zuffa has a few of Pride’s former fighters signed to the UFC and WEC, but will it be able to release a Fedor or Gomi doll as well? No other details were announced but does this mean that Zuffa has plans for Japanese MMA in the future?
