Brother vs Brother
Ken and Frank Shamrock have signed to meet each other in the ring for EliteXC, according to Frank Shamrock the fight is already signed and will take place sometime in 2009. As we know both brothers have had an ongoing feud for quite a while.
Frank Shamrock first spoke with ESPN.com and confirmed the bout with his adopted brother Ken Shamrock, who Frank repeatedly said caused disgrace to the Shamrock name while doing commentary at last week’s EliteXC: HEAT event.
“We’ve both signed a contract to fight each other,” younger brother Frank Shamrock told ESPN.com. “Ken is down with it. We talked about it two years ago, and we’ve agreed materially to fight.”
When asked if the fight will actually happen between the two brothers, Ken Shamrock responded.
“Will the fight happen? Absolutely,” Ken Shamrock told ESPN.com. “He’s got a buttkicking coming to him. Everything I’ve learned, everything I have bottled up in me, is going to come out on him. I’ve still got love for Frank, but I’m angry at him.”
Frank also talked about the fight’s natural curiosity factor for fans who will be interested in seeing two family members mix it up.
“The fight has a cool hook,” Frank said. “Brothers beating each other up. Everyone wants to see that.”
This fight is right up EliteXC’s alley, it’s controversial (which I like). It has drama and is going to cause a hell of an audience who wants to watch out of curiosity or to criticize. Either way it seems EliteXC is attempting to generate buzz for the company after Kimbo Slice’s 14 second loss to Seth Petruzelli at last weekend’s event on CBS. Whether you agree or do not agree with this fight out of principle one thing is for sure you will watch it.
