Manny Gamburyan to compete at UFC 94

Former Ultimate Fighter 5 contestant Manny Gamburyan who is a cousin to UFC Welterweight contender Karo Parisyan will be making his return at UFC 94 in late January with BJJ ace Thiago Tavares to be the likely opponent.

Gamburyan confirmed the bout with MMAWeekly.com earlier on Sunday. Although; bout agreements have not been signed the deal should be done within the next week.

Gamburyan and Tavares are both coming off losses with Tavares recently losing in a hard fought battle with Kurt Pellegrino this past September at UFC 88 in Atlanta, Ga. and Manny is coming off a quick 12 second knockout at the hands of another TUF 5 alum in Rob Emerson back at UFC 87 in themonth of August.

Gamburyan had this to say about his opponent to be in Tavares as quoted by MMAWeekly.

“He’s a phenomenal fighter,” Gamburyan said. “I’m really happy I’m fighting him. With a good victory, that’s going to put me on top for sure.”

The proposed bout will more than likely be a part of the undercard portion of the UFC 94 event which will of course be in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Super Bowl weekend.
