Dana has nothing but good words for Strikeforce and Gina Carano

As we all know UFC President Dana White does not hold back his tongue when it comes to a rival promotion or a fighter who “sucks”, but White seems to have some respect for some others making their way up in the MMA business. For example, the California based Strikeforce promotion and the face of women’s MMA Gina “Conviction” Carano.

In a new interview with USA Today ,White talks about where the female MMA star and the upstart organization belong as far as being in the sport today.

“I hope they do 10 million viewers next week. Have you heard me say a bad word about Strikeforce? I wish them all the luck in the world. I have nothing bad to say about guys who are running the right promotion … Gina Carano’s a talented fighter, she’s a star. She should’ve been the main event (on CBS’ last EliteXC broadcast). My thing with women and fighting is there isn’t enough good women to create a whole division. Could I do some one-off fights here and there? Yeah, but that’s not really what we do.”

Dana giving Strikeforce it's due

Well as many people perceive White to be the bad guy in the business I for one feel that he does respect what Strikeforce has done as an organization. They do not overspend on talent, but have a good mix of young and veteran talent with the likes of Cung Le, Frank Shamrock and Josh Thomson. They grow their talent the right way within the promotion and most importantly they plan their events properly.

White respects Gina (R) (Did I mention she's hot?)

As for Gina Carano she is perfect for the sport because she is not just a pretty face that puts on trunks and 4 ounce gloves, she can actually fight and really puts on a good performance. The only thing, she just needs to put more focus on her training and make weight before an event and when she does take care of those things not even Cris “Cyborg” Santos could touch her, even though Cris Cyborg is just as good as Carano. It would be great if Dana White put that matchup together, but even if he doesn’t someone will down the line.
