As we all know the upcoming Ultimate Fighter season 9 series will begin taping in January of 2009 and premiering in April with the format being the U.S. team taking on the U.K. team with Englishman and UFC Middleweight Michael “The Count” Bisping running the U.K. team with nobody at the moment taking the reigns of the U.S. team as of yet. With all that said and done though UFC President Dana White does not really seem to be very pleased with the new format for the reality series on Spike TV.
In a recent interview with The Sun White expresses how he feels about the new series format and also explains how it doesn’t matter where a fighter comes from.
“I said from day one I hate the UK v USA idea,” White told The Sun. ”It’s dumb, I don’t like it — it’s not USA v the UK, we’re looking for the best fighter in the world. We put on a card one time, the USA v Canada, it was f***ing retarded.
White also explained why he did not feel the Country vs Country format mattered to the shows overall importance.
“I don’t care if you’re from the UK, Croatia or Brazil because at the end of the day, when Michael Bisping comes to America — Americans don’t boo him.
White also went on to explain that the fighter’s mentality is more important then their nationality.
“You either like the guy’s fighting style or personality — nationality has nothing to do with it. “That’s what’s changing in what we’re doing. We’re looking for the best fighters in the world — this country versus that country is irrelevant.” White explained.
Well Dana is right about a few things I mean it is plainly about 16 fighters looking to get that UFC contract in the end and the show does not need to be like other reality shows such as Survivor or MTV Road Rules vs The Real World when The Ultimate Fighter has characters like from past and present shows like the guy from season 3 who left because he wanted to be with his girlfriend or Marlon Sims who says that he has been in 300 street fights and claims that he won just about all of them and last but not least Junie Allen Browning who is a wreck when he gets drunk challenging everybody in the house to fight him. The show is a success because the male demographic will always say so.
It is retarted so why is Spike and the UFC doing it then?
IDK I like the concept its cool to see us wipe the floor with those British bastards because there fighters suck any way
White belt your the type of idiot that gives americans bad names
agreed that is why everyone hates Americans but the whole TUF thing is old already
