Filho - Sonnen

Paulo Filho shocked the MMA world yesterday when he came in overweight for his WEC Middleweight title defense against heated rival Chael Sonnen. Filho who came in 7 pounds overweight on his first attempt had to surrender 25% of his purse to Sonnen as a “Sin tax” in order to keep the fight going.  Now Filho says he will get his moneys worth when he beats Sonnen at WEC 36 tonight.

Filho spoke to Tatame about his plans to get his money back round by round in tonight’s title fight.

“I’m not feeling bad,” Filho told Tatame over the phone ”I’ve already recovered my weigh and I’m ready. That guy (Sonnen) will pay dearly my 25% (purse) inside that octagon on those three rounds: 10% on the first, 10% on the second and the rest at the third”

While Filho has stated several times in the past that he feels he may have to move up to 205 pounds in order to make weight, his next fight will be in the UFC. If he decides to compete at 185 pounds he will at 5’8″ he will be okay, but at Light Heavyweight Filho will be at a big disadvantage. Especially against the division’s elite fighters, some of which cut down from 220 pounds. Filho after his fight tonight will have a big decision to make as to whether he fights at 205 pounds or 185.

Filho is crazy if he thinks Dana is going to stand for that shit at all. Dana hates that shit and punished Thiago for coming in over weight at ufc 85
