UFC 94 is beginning to take shape as the upcoming Super Bowl weekend event in late January begins to officially add matches to the card as the much anticipated Light Heavyweight showdown between undefeated fighters Lyoto Machida and Thiago Silva (both 13-0) will be the co-main event with Welterweight Champion Georges St.Pierre will be defending his title against UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn.
UFC President Dana White officially announced the matchup the UFC 91 post fight press conference this past Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada.
As we all know Machida and Silva were originally scheduled to face one another at UFC 89 in Birmingham, England this past October, but due to a back injury to Thiago Silva he was forced to pull himself off the card and scrapped the fight off the event completely.
Now barring injury one of the fighters zero losses must go and also determine which undefeated Brazilian will be getting a Light Heavyweight title fight within their grasp? Whoever wins is very deserving of a title shot with Silva winning all of his four UFC fights with three TKO victories and one submission victory and Machida has also defeated all of his five opponents inside the Octagon without losing a single round in each of those fights.
UFC 94 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 31 and will be live on pay per view.
This card is shaping up to be another hugh one for the ufc
