Many people will say that UFC Middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva is without a doubt the world’s best pound for pound fighter in the world and why not? Silva has been dominant since stepping into the Octagon and making a name for himself in the US by defeating the likes of Rich Franklin on two different occassions with one of them to win the UFC Middleweight title, Silva has also beaten Nate Marquardt and former Pride dual Champion Dan Henderson. Not only is Silva a top level BJJ black belt, he is also one of the most feared strikers in all of MMA, but now he is looking to sharpen up his striking skills furthermore with world reknowned Boxing trainer Freddie Roach.According to a report from FightHype.com Silva seems to be looking to add more to his striking abilities and has begun his training early Monday night with Roach.
Roach who has trained boxers with the likes of Mike Tyson, Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao has also been training one time UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski who will be facing Fedor Emelianenko at Affliction: Day of Reckoning on January 24. The question is in regards to Silva is why is he looking to sharpen up his striking ability? Does he still feel very disappointed about his most recent fight with Patrick Cote at UFC not knowing that he could not finish him? Who knows maybe he is looking to improve his striking ability knowing that he might be facing another feared striker in Chuck Liddell at UFC 95 in February of 2009, but that is still just speculation….or is it possible that fight just might take place?
