Fedor Emelianenko has finally broken his silence about his loss to Bulgaria’s Blagoy Ivanov, his first in 8 years of Sambo competition and says the outcome would have been different if it was MMA.

The WAMMA Heavyweight Champion spoke to Dave Meltzer of Yahoo! Sports about the Sambo loss and spoke about why it was not a big deal.

“My Bulgarian opponent wasn’t a surprise,” Emelianenko told Meltzer through an interpreter. “I always understand there could be the possibility of losing a bout. My opponent was European champion in combat sambo. But for me, sambo is a hobby. I enjoy participating in the sport, but it’s a different sport. It’s a sport scored based on throws and being taken to the ground. That’s happened to me in MMA with [Kazuyuki] Fujita and [Antonio Rodrigo] Nogueira. It’s not my occupation or my work, which is MMA. I think the result would be different under MMA rules.”

While many fans have used Fedor’s loss as the new warning for the end of the world marching the streets with signs that read “The end is near”, his loss is still not inside of a MMA ring or cage. Fedor has been the epitome of the word consistent in MMA and has not done it for a year, he has done it for 8 years. How many other athletes in any sport can say the same?

Its a loss in another sport if you are using it to bash the best fighter in the history of mma you are a fucking idiot no one is even close to his legacy.

Fedor would have to lose tow times to be removed from the number 1 spot in my opinion
