Arlovski to spar with Anderson Silva in preparation with Fedor

Freddie Roach who has now been working with MMA fighters with an interest in Boxing someday such as Andrei Arlovski and now recently, Anderson Silva has helped out both fighters with their striking abilities and their movement whether it be inside a ring or a cage. As you can see it has payed big dividends for Arlovski as he has now implemented a more aggressive approach in his fights by dispatching 2 former IFL Heavyweight champions in Ben Rothwell and Roy Nelson. Now he has to face the best Heavyweight in the MMA world in Fedor Emelianenko at Affliction: Day of Reckoning in January of 2009. It seems now that Arlovski has another helping hand to help him prepare for his big title bout in the UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

In a walkthrough with MMA Insider (an affiliate of MMAWeekly.com), Freddie Roach showed them in a tour of his Wild Card on Wednesday and told them that Arlovski would be arriving to continue his training with Roach in preparation for his fight with Fedor in late January.

Roach would also say that Anderson Silva will be coming in as well to spar with Arlovski and also added that Silva still aspires to have a fight with Roy Jones Jr. down the line.

“I’ve been working with Anderson for a little while now,” Roach said. “He’s 4-0 in Brazil as a boxer. He wants to fight Roy Jones, he told me. I don’t think Anderson’s quite ready for Jones yet, but he’s a talented guy; he has good movement, and it should be interesting.”

It just goes to show you that Anderson Silva is still very adamant about being a professional boxer and looks very imminent that he will be retiring from MMA when his UFC contract expires when he is right around at the age of 35.

As for Arlovski, he knows what is at stake when he faces Fedor in which it will be a big opportunity to not only become a champion once again, but to be the first to really defeat the “Russian Sambo Machine” in a match and having the best pound for pound fighter in the world can’t hurt.
