Hazelett returns at UFC 96

UFC Welterweight prospects Dustin Hazelett and Ben Saunders are on a collision course to face off with one another at UFC 96 in the month of March from Columbus, Ohio. The event will be on the third straight year the UFC heads to the State of Ohio and will be taking part in the same weekend as the Arnold Sports Festival which is hosted by none other than Arnold Schwarzenneger himself.

According to Sherdog.com, both Hazelett and Saunders have been handed bout agreements and the organization should be expecting their signatures on the dotted line sometime later this week.

Hazelett and Saunders are both coming off impressive in the last couple of months and will look to continue to showcase their skills as well as their winning streaks inside the Octagon.

Hazelett who is a native of the State of Ohio is on a two fight win streak by submitting Josh Burkman at The Ultimate Fighter 7 finale this past June and recently Tamdan McCrory at UFC 91 in the month of November with both wins coming by submission and garnering “Submission of the Night” honors in both fights. Hazelett says he wants to be the best submission guy in the UFC, so let’s find out if he can get yet another submission on the lanky Saunders.

As for Saunders, who is a former Ultimate Fighter season 6 contestant is undefeated in 9 career MMA bouts with a record of 7-0-2 and has won all 3 of his last fights inside the Octagon. Last month at the UFC Fight for the Troops event, Saunders made quick work of newcomer Brandon Wolff as he unloaded a series of vicious knees in the Muay Thai clinch and left Wolff beaten and battered to win the fight in the very first round.

UFC 96 is set to take place at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio on March 7 with the possibility of former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell to headline the event.
