Belcher (L) says he has some tricks up his sleeve for Denis Kang

With the upcoming UFC 93 card this Saturday night all the focus has been pretty much on the main and co-main event bouts with Dan Henderson taking on Rich Franklin and Mark Coleman facing Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, but there are other good match ups on the card as the new acquisition and Middleweight Denis Kang will be making his Octagon debut against Alan Belcher. However; Belcher is going to be coming into this bout very confident as he feels that he shaping up his overall MMA game completely and will be looking to score the upset on the former Pride and Spirit MC veteran.

In a new interview with the Canadian Press, Belcherwho is well versed in Muay Thai feels that if it was that kind of a fight no one can beat him, but also feels that Kang’s chances against him are slim and may have a trick or two up his sleeve should Kang take him down to the ground.

If I could fight the guys in the UFC in a Muay Thai fight, I think I would destroy them, it wouldn’t even be close. I wouldn’t have to hold back. But you’ve got to worry about the takedowns and stuff like that…I’m getting to the point where it’s hard for anybody to take me down. I mean [Kang’s] going to have to work really hard. If he’s on his best day, his best performance, it’s still going to be hard for him to take me down at all and then if he does then I’ve got a couple of tricks up my sleeve for him. You never know, I’m might slap a triangle or something on him.” replied Belcher.

Although Kang has won his last two fights before being signed by the UFC, he was one or if not the favorite to win the Middleweight GP tournament for Dream in Japan, but was caught napping and was put in a triangle choke by the eventual tournament winner in Gegard Mousasi and that is probably something that Belcher could looking for in his fight this Saturday night against the UFC newcomer.

However; Kang is no slouch either and will also use his stand up skill to his advantage as well. Belcher who has won 3 of his last 4 fights picked up his most recent victory in a close split decision over Ed Herman back UFC Fight Night 15 this past September and will be looking to continue to make a much further climb atop the UFC’s Middleweight division to face much stiffer competition.
