Rumor: UFC 97 - Heath Herring possible return  | read this item

Not fighting Junior Dos Santos

It appears that Heath “The Texas Crazy Horse” Herring is rumored to be returning to action at UFC 97 in Montreal, Canada’s Bell Centre on April 18. We do not know who he will face off against, but we know it is not Junior Dos Santos as rumors are stating.

MMAWeekly.com rumor section has Herring set to return to action at UFC 97.

There was a report that Herring would face off against Junior Dos Santos in this event, but the UFC has already confirmed that The Team Nogueira trained fighter will face off against newcomer Stefan Struve at UFC 95 in London, England. It is a possibility that the fight was talked about before and may have come up in discussions.

Herring has not fought since losing to UFC champion Brock Lesnar at UFC 87 “Seek in Destroy”, when his eye socket was broken with an overhand right in the first minute of the fight. Reports have said that Herring’s orbital bone was broken others have said his cheekbone as well was fractured.

Herring will look to get back on track at UFC 97 with a win, we will let you know as soon as he gets an opponent and we will update this post as usual.

Is he still with the ufc who knew what did he lose like 4 fights now since signing with them

  2. Fedor is legendNo Gravatar says:

he got too cocky after he beat Kongo and thought he was gonna beat Brock easy with a submission Little did he know that brock was not just waiting to lose to him and he got his eye smashed

I think you two are in the minority. Heath Herring is one of the few bright spots of the very thin ufc hw division.

Kongo is calling for a title shot after he was beat by Herring. Doesn’t that tell you something. They don’t have any contenders to fight the winner of Lesnar/Mir. They have Shane Carwin who isn’t ready and Cain Velasquez who doesn’t want the shot. Forget about Junior Dos Santos, if he was put in now against Mir OR Lesnar, he’d be beat royally.

I think a lot of people overlook Herring. First of all, the dude got poked in the damn eye right before the fight even started, by that bald-headed, doof, Goldberg reject, Dan Miragliotta. Then Lesnar got in a lucky punch that broke his eye socket, yet Herring fought on for 3 rounds! Most normal men or even top fighters would’ve laid down, curled up in a fetal position and quit and let the ref stop it. NOT HERRING!
I know most of you guys bashing Herring would probably tap the minute you got blood on your shoes in a real fight.

He lasted the whole fight, hurt from the first minute bad. That says a lot for him, and not a lot for Lesnar.

Also, look what Herring did compared to Couture. Granted Couture is old now and probably should retire for good this time. Herring is still one of the top hws in the ufc.

Even though the American fans, (and then hence the ufc), are just about winning, Herring is 2-3 in the UFC.

One loss being against Big Nog, who he had beat in the first round but respected him too much from their previous two battles in Pride. He then let Nog get back in the match. Nog winning by decision. Remember, Nog was able to finish Herring their second fight in PRIDE, and was able to finish Big Doof Sylvia, but not Herring in their 3rd (or first) fight!

The other loss, like I said about Lesnar, look above.

I think Serial and these other newb fans will be the death or corruption of mma much like boxing is nowadays. He was probably one of Elite’s and Kimbum’s biggest fans. Saying he was the baddest man on the planet.

    *sigh*…PATHETIC!

I totally agree with Toby, All you muther sucka don’t know sh**.

@Masterofallherbs, how is that true Herring is the stepping stone for every great fighter in mma

he was supposed to beat Fedor and Nog when they fought the first time and he lost and then again to Lesnar

I like Heath he is a good fighter but he never filled his potential

  5. MasterofallherbsNo Gravatar says:

Hey look at the guy now, he don’t look like anything close to what he did in Pride. In the UFC dude is chubby and much much slower. Add the 2 things together equal ownage by lay and prey wrestlers. But, like Toby said, I think the Texas crazy horse still got some gas in him. Let’s see how he will perform against Junior Dos Santos. Plus, you can count on good old Herring heart that he will not get KO like Werdum in the 1st round.

Don’t we all hope someone punch the sh** out of Lesnar and make that bitch cry. Dana White wet dream, signing former wwe superstar Bobby Lashley to fight against his boy Lesnar for the Undisputed WWe… i mean UFC heavyweight championship.

@ reply Masterofallherbs, I don’t think that rumor of Herring vs Dos Santos was true.
Junior has been confirmed by the Ufc against Strufe at 95
