Mauricio "Shogun" Rua promises a better performance in next bout  | read this item

Terrible showing at UFC 93

If you are a big fan of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and had big expectations of him in last night’s bout with his rival from Pride Mark Coleman than you are a true “Nuthugger” you we’re disappointed in the former Grand Prix winner’s performance all around. Rua looked exhausted towards the end of the first round and was arguably losing to an even more tired Coleman when he finally finished him with only seconds left in the fight. Now Rua is assuring that he will come in better conditioning in his next fight.

Rua spoke in the post fight interview about his performance that many have criticized over.

“By my next fight I will be more prepared and in better shape, with better conditioning, to give my fans a great show.”

Rua also said in the post fight interview that the time off effected his performance last night, and it was not easy to get back into shape.

We all know that was not the Shogun Rua we are all accustomed to seeing fight and know that he could get into better shape before taking his next bout. Which as of right now appears to be Chuck Liddell at UFC 97. Liddell may not have looked his best recently, but without a doubt would easily finish the Shogun we saw last night at UFC 93.

Hopefully; Rua can bounce back and hit the gym hard and regain some of the endurance he lost from his days with Pride FC when he was considered to be the top Light Heavyweight in the world.

@Rider917, I WAS JUMPING OFF OF MY COUCH.

If you really look at the second round Shogun was losing,
1- he was still being taken down at will.

2- Coleman was beating him standing with a Jab, and Coleman does not Box

3- Shogun Rua steps, plants his left foot, rocks his hip, then moves his should in and throws a punch.

The UFC 205 pound division has a lot of good fighters who have solid Boxing experience or are currently learning fundementals.

Shogun waited for Coleman to throw then attempted to jab, he would never get away with the against Liddell, Franklin or Rampage. They would counter him and put him to sleep.

Wanderlei never changed his stance Boxing and Shogun never really did either, its a knockout waiting to happen.
