Joe Lauzon is coming off of back to back wins since losing to Kenny Florian back at UFC Fight Night 13 last April. His latest win came over Jeremy Stephens two weeks ago at UFC Fight Night 17, where he won by submission and looked more confident than ever. Now Lauzon wants a step up in competition and says he would like to face someone like Clay Guida next.
FightersOnlyMagazine.com caught up to Lauzon who spoke about possibly
facing off against “The Carpenter”.
Guida has changed his once more entertaining, but reckless style into a more controlled style where he let’s his wrestling dictate the pace of the bout. Since losing to Roger Huerta he has won three straight fights. His win over Mac Danzig by decision showed his improvement and his commitment to his wrestling. Against Nate Diaz he handed the Ultimate Fighter 5 winner his first loss in the Octagon by a close split decision.
Lauzon has also won two straight fights and has improved overall as well, his Jiu-Jitsu game is now one of the best in the Lightweight division. The improvement came after training with BJ Penn who was also his coach while on season 5 of The Ultimate Fighter.
If the UFC does decide to matchup the surging Lightweights it would definitely be a crowd pleaser.
Lauzon isn’t ready for Guida! He should fight Nate Diaz first.
@Toby, I would still like to see that fight one day, Lauzon may still need a fight or two but it would still be competitive.
By the way I have made the decision that I will no longer provide links to any websites that do not provide them back. If their policy is to not provide a link then I will do the same, and no, this is not just for Fighters Only. Its not personal just fair.
@Narcisist, I dont blame you for that at all Fighters, mmagay and weekly all dont share the love why should you
