Earlier this week we heard from Mauro Ranallo during the XMMA 7 broadcast reported that the UFC was attempting to put together a “Loser leaves town match” between Mac Danzig and Joe Stevenson. It turns out that bout is no longer an option for the UFC and will not take place in a future event.
MMAJunkie.com caught up to Stevenson who informed them that the bout was no longer an option.
The bout on paper appeared to make no sense considering the loser of the
fight would be on a 3 fight losing streak.
Stevenson has dropped 3 of his last 4 bouts against top UFC Lightweights BJ Penn (UFC 80), Kenny Florian (UFC 91) and most recently Diego Sanchez (UFC 95). It is safe to say he will be in serious danger of being released if he loses another fight.
Danzig who won The Ultimate Fighter season 6 at Welterweight is currently at the 155 pound class and has now dropped two straight fights in consecutive UFC Fight Night events. His first loss came to Clay Guida by decision at Fight Night 15 and he recently lost to Josh Neer by Submission at Fight Night 17.
We hope to find out who they will fight next soon and usual we will let you know as soon as possible.
