Kenny Florian seems poised to wait for his title shot against BJ Penn no matter how long it takes. He has already waited since UFC 91 in November when he defeated Joe Stevenson in dominating fashion. He waited for BJ Penn to fight Georges St.Pierre at UFC 94 and is now waiting for the Lightweight champion past UFC 98 as well. In the meantime; Florian will not risk his number one contender status either, according to Dana White he even turned down a fight with Diego Sanchez.
The Boston Herald spoke to White about the offer that was made to Florian for another bout while waiting for BJ Penn.
Florian and Sanchez have fought in the past at The Ultimate Fighter season 1 finale. The two fought at the 185 pound Middleweight class, before both cutting to 170 and then now the Lightweight division.
Perhaps Florian does not want to risk losing his title shot at Penn, he has waited two years now since losing to Sean Sherk back at UFC 64.
I cant blame him why should he fight Diego when BJ owes him a shot at the title and is now making excuses why he shouldnt fight?

what a dumba*s comment. why should Florian fight Diego when he’s clearly in line for the title shot at Penn? he’s already in line to fight for the title after the Huerta fight, and fought Daddy Stevenson just so he doesn’t have a long layoff in between fights.
some guys don’t even get title shots in their career, so this is possibly one in a lifetime achievement for Florian.
real smart Marcus, especially when Diego didn’t even finish off Stevenson like Florian & Penn.
