One of the UFC’s biggest acquisitions this year came from their sister promotion in the WEC when they brought in Welterweight champion Carlos Condit along with the rest of the WEC’s 170 pound weight class. Now we are just a little over a week away until the “Natural Born Killer” makes his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 18 when he faces Martin Kampmann in his first UFC challenge, but president Dana White is very “excited” about the former WEC champion’s debut to see what he can do against the best that the UFC has to offer for him.
In a recent interview with MMAWeekly.com White says that he can’t wait to see what Condit can do against the UFC’s Welterweights given his dominance over the WEC Welterweight division over the past two years.
During his time with the WEC, Condit (22-4) went unbeaten in 5 fights and successfully defended his title on 3 separate occasions after defeating John Alessio back at WEC 26 back in March of 2007 when the Welterweight championship was vacant, but will face a very tough opponent in Martin Kampmann at UFC Fight Night 18 on April 1 and will have to be on top of his game if he is to successful yet again and with the UFC.
However; when asked if Condit could be in contention for the UFC Welterweight title in the same fashion that he did with the WEC, White replied with a simple “Definitely” very soon.
On April 1 from the Sommet Center in Nashville, Tennessee we will see how much of an impact Condit makes when he finally makes his UFC debut to know if he truly belongs amongst the elite of the promotion’s Welterweight division.
This is a tough fight to call both these guys are on there way to the top of the division there young and really good I’m on the fence here
I’d like to see the winner of this fight, go on to fight Fitch.
Condit vs Fitch would be a very interesting fight.
@Cole, good fight I would pay to see that
