Ever since the San Jose based StrikeForce promotion bought out ProElite’s assets the biggest prize was the contracts of EliteXC fighters with amongst one of those contracts belonging to Gina Carano, but even though StrikeForce has been working out those fighter contracts Carano’s deal is still a posing a bit of a problem. However; she feels confident that a deal will get done and is certain that a fight with Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos is bound to happen sometime later this year.
In an interview MMAWeekly.com from the Fight Expo in Del Mar, California Carano says that she has been fine without having to be in the spotlight like when she was with EliteXC, but would also like to see other female fighters get the same attention she has received.
Although; she is enjoying the sport of MMA from a fans perspective, Carano is still very positive that a deal will get done, so she can prepare herself to get back in the cage to fight.
The storm Carano refers to is Cyborg Santos who still wants to face her as she mentioned at StrikeForce’s most recent press conference for the April 11 event and Carano says that she is focused on Cyborg and that the fight will happen in 2009.
All that needs to be done is that StrikeForce does what it takes now to keep her in the fold because she is a big draw and other promoters will want her services and pay her more because she is worth it and plus there is that match-up between her and Cyborg that has to go down. Stay tuned!
