Bader MCL possibly torn

Ryan Bader did not look his best last night in his decision victory over Carmelo Marrero, but it could have been due to a torn MCL.

Cage Writer’s Steve Cofield is reporting that he felt his knee pop in the first round of his bout last night.

“He was told by the doctor on scene at the Sommet Center that he there was looseness in the knee that Bader may have torn his MCL. He mentioned that the left knee was swelling but is hoping that he didn’t tear the ACL as well”.

Hopefully; Bader is not injured and put on the shelf for an extended period of time. He did not look fantastic last night, but he did look like he improved his Jiu-Jitsu game to go along with his wrestling.

Let’s hope its not a MCL tear, so Bader can get back in action soon.

Maybe we were watching different fights.

He looked awesome.(did you see him try that armbar)?
When has he ever performed better than that?
He is still a new guy in the sport and has a ton of potential.
I thought he did bad awesome and was impressed with leap of improvement.

@TerraFirma2hip, agreed on the Jiu-Jjitsu improvements. He just slowed down in rounds 2 and 3, he said the injury effected him.

Grappling wise if Bader can mix dominant takedowns with submissions, I feel sorry fro a lot of guys at 205. He will dominate long enough to get his stand up up to par that it will be a threat standing as well.

@TerraFirma2hip, just cause he tried one armbar which he didn’t finish does not mean he improved a lot. He still pulled a lay and pray for 15 minutes

Any way back on topic Bader really impressed me with his ability to pass Marrero’s guard to side control and attempting to lock up the key lock, the armbar, arm triangles, and I thought he might go for the darce choke and finish him a few times. Very much improved so my hat’s off to him.
