Lauzon won't be back soon
Joe Lauzon was on a bit of a hot streak when a knee injury during his win over Jeremy Stephens at UFC Fight Night 17 forced him out of action. Lauzon now reveals that he will not rush back and risk hurting his knee and career long term. In his latest interview he revealed he may not be back until the Spring of 2010.
Our Myspace friends over at Ifight365.com caught up to Lauzon who spoke about his injury to his knee.

Look at the difference
“My meniscus was repaired and the ACL cadaver grafting was successful. My doctor was very happy and optimistic that my knee will be strong. Right now, I’m walking around like a normal person; no training but I’m doing some light jogging, leg presses and squats. I’m going to lose muscle in the leg. Range of motion is the key right now. I can completely straighten my leg. I can bend it 135 degrees and 150 is normal.”
In the report it was revealed that he will not return until Spring of 2010 and gave his reason why he will not rush back and risk further injury.
“All that was protecting my knee was muscle and now that’s gone,” he noted. “It‘s going to take time to build-up. I’ll probably be back on the mat in six months, but just doing light stuff, no live action. ACL surgery rehab is notorious for having people rush back too soon, resulting in more ACL surgery, and I’m not risking that.”
We hope Lauzon can come back and pick up where he left off, as we all know time off for a fighter can sometimes hurt their development in the ever changing world of Mixed Martial Arts. Especially in the UFC’s 155 pound Lightweight division where it appears that new fighters are popping up every day with new skills and new threats.
