Leites ready for the fight to go anywhere

Thales Leites knows he is at a disadvantage standing when he faces off against Anderson Silva for the Middleweight title at UFC 97 “Redemption” this weekend. Leites also knows he has the advantage on the ground, but says he is ready for anywhere the fight goes.

MMA Fanhouse.com caught up to the challenger and asked him about his preparation for the title fight.

“Not exactly. I will be ready to fight in all the situations, but everyone knows that my fight style is the ground game.”

“My training is going very well and I’m feeling very strong. I’m training twice every single day for this fight, and I’m working on everything, including a lot of Muay Thai, boxing, wrestling and jiu jitsu”.

Leites also spoke about how important it was to him that he would be fighting Anderson in the first ever Brazilian vs Brazilian title bout in UFC history.

“UFC is very popular in Brazil. A lot of people watch it and love it. Sometimes I’m recognized, sometimes people come to talk with me and tell me that they saw my fight on TV and they liked it, and they give me congratulations for the fight. Sometimes people ask for an autograph, and Brazilian fans send messages to my web site and my MySpace”.

Can’t help, but root a little for Leites he is always respectful and humble. I look forward to seeing if he can somehow pose a threat to Anderson Silva and if he can take him to the ground where he has a small advantage.
