Another Featherweight is possible for the June 7th WEC 41 card from Sacramento, California as Cub Swanson (13-2) will be taking on Jose Aldo (14-1) in a potential test to see if Aldo is a threat for the Featherweight championship down the line.

The news was confirmed by Aldo himself who tells Intheguard.tv that his next fight for the WEC will be against Cub Swanson who also adds that he has not studied much on Swanson stemming from his bout against Jens Pulver back at WEC 31 in December of 2007.

I still haven’t had time to study anything on him. That fight against Jens Pulver is not a parameter,” said Aldo.

Since the loss to Pulver at WEC 31, Swanson has won his last two fights with his most recent coming against Hiroyuki Takaya back at WEC 37 last December and was scheduled to face Diego Nunes earlier this month at WEC 41, but was canceled due to a last minute injury to Nunes.

However; a win for Jose Aldo may put him in line for the next shot at the Featherweight championship according to him who has gone 4-0 within the promotion.

What might help is that people have seen that I do not run in my fights,” said Aldo referring to his excelent stand up game. “I am also expected to fight for the belt, maybe if I beat Swanson this opportunity will come.”

The WEC 41 card will feature the highly anticipated rematch between current Featherweight champion Mike Brown taking on former champion Urijah Faber in the main event.
