You ever wonder as to just how big Alistair Overeem got over the last couple of years? Well the current StrikeForce Heavyweight champion can tell you that it is due to the fact that he has changed his diet as well as his old coach in order to become a better fighter all around.

The interview was conducted by a Croatian website called Index.hr, but was translated in English over at Big Odds Mike where Overeem says that he has changed his diet from eating lots of vegetables to now eating horse meat and lots of other forms of protein.

“I changed my diet, I changed my coach and when I really think about it – I changed everything. From my girlfriend to my training and diet. Before I ate a lot of vegetables that are healthy but contained little energy. Now I mainly eat horse meat, rice and protein shakes. I got rid of my old coach who was in charge of my fight strategies. It simply wasn’t working. I just started to think about what I had to do to become a better fighter.” said Overeem.

Overeem could be competing at StrikeForce’s next big show on June 6th to defend his Heavyweight championship, but an opponent has not been announced as of this time and may not happen on the month of June either, but we will keep you posted if in fact he will be competing on the card as soon as news breaks.

However; what do you think of Alistair Overeem’s new diet?

I have no place to speculate, but until he pees clean it seems a little fishy…

Since when is horse meat a code word for steroids? He put on 40 pounds of muscle and about 10 in the last year I don’t care if he eats rhino meat there’s no way
