Last week while the UFC was in Montreal, Canada for UFC 97 “Redemption” Dana White talked about getting into other markets around the US and Canada for cities like Boston, New York City and Toronto. But the organization is still persistent in opening up more events worldwide and now Australia could be a likely destination for a UFC attraction as well.

According to Fighter’s Only Magazine the Acer Arena in Sydney was contacted by Zuffa officials about possibly holding a UFC event sometime in the month of February in 2010.

The venue which was formerly named the Sydney Superdome was the site for the Summer Olympic games in 2000 and holds a capacity of 21,000 seats which would definitely be right up the UFC’s alley.

But the UFC is still actively searching to expand in other places around the world with the Philippines and Brazil also on tap for future events as Germany will already be the site for the month of June this year for UFC 99. Who will be next in the global market?

Excellent. Elvis Sinosic in the Main Event.

Otherwise, I think it’d be really cool to see UFC in Australia.
