After losing to BJ Penn back at UFC 84 in May of last year former Lightweight champion Sean Sherk bounced back with a strong performance over young up and comer Tyson Griffin at UFC 90 last October and will now be facing another young up and coming fighter in Frankie Edgar next month at UFC 98. Sherk also believes that with another win and strong outing against Edgar puts him another step closer to another UFC Lightweight title match, but “The Muscle Shark” is also expecting an all out war withthe Renzo Gracie trained student as well.
In a new interview with UFC.com Sherk talks about his UFC 84 loss to BJ Penn and the possibility of facing him once more, so he can avenge that loss.
Sherk then comments on his UFC 98 matchup with Edgar who he says will be expecting a very fast paced battle just like his last fight at UFC 90 against Tyson Griffin.
Sherk 35, does not plan on calling it a career anytime soon and definitely is one of those guys that wants to be a champion once again before it is all said and done, but he also wants to be remembered as one of the top fighters in the division once he does make that decision to call it quits, but for right now he wants to become a serious threat within the UFC’s deep 155 pound weight class and a win over Edgar at UFC 98 will put him very close to yet another title opportunity down the line.
