At UFC 97 this past Saturday night people in the crowd started to boo the main event Middleweight championship bout between Anderson Silva and Thales Leites and also left Dana White feeling embarrassed as well. And as many people give Anderson Silva most of the criticism for not finishing the fight it is Leites who says he also deserves much of the criticism as well who feels hecould have done a lot more to make it a better fight.

Leites says that he puts the blame on himself for not trying to push the pace of the fight and says that he does not blame Dana White for feeling the way the outcome of the fight went.

“Dana White  is right,” he said. “He is right, because if they do an event that is the largest in the world, they expect a more aggressive fight.”

“I did not like my performance because I trained better than that and I know damn well I could have done better … I am not arrogant to say that I could have won … I could have done better, could have attacked more, have been a little more aggressive, more risky things,” he added. “Now people are saying that “Thales did five rounds with him and showed no effort.”

“I am a fighter, I’m professional and I am always looking for the best performance and win, of course. I know that Anderson is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, but if you want to be the best, you have to fight the best and beat the champion. Anyway, I did not like the performance, I thought I could have gone better, but credit to him for shutting down my game.”

Hopefully; Thales learned his lesson from this big opportunity and attempts to push the pace in his next fight as well as another title shot should he be so fortunate and of course the same will definitely have to go with Anderson as his next potential fight may very well be against a top Light Heavyweight whoever that may be.
