At UFC 98 former Lightweight champion Sean Sherk will have another opportunity to move one step closer to yet another title shot when he faces off against the young up and comer Frankie Edgar who is also in the hunt for title contention and if Sherk is to win, he says that he would like to face the winner of The Ultimate Fighter season 9 finale main event bout between Diego Sanchez and Clay Guida later on thinking that the winner of such a potential matchup will become the new number one contender to the Lightweight crown in the UFC.
In a new interview with InsideFights.com “The Muscle Shark” says that he is not sure as to when the Lightweight title will be defended once again assuming that BJ Penn defeats Kenny Florian at UFC 101,but expresses that a bout with the Sanchez/Guida winner will be a great matchup for him as well.
However; Sherk still claims that his fight with Frankie Edgar at UFC 98 will be very explosive with lots of action, plus a potential fight of the year candidate at the same time.
One thing is for sure the fight does have that kind of feel to be one of the best fights in 2009 stemming from Sherk’s last performance in a win over another young up and coming fighter like Tyson Griffin back at UFC 90 last October where it was awarded as “Fight of the Night” by the UFC, so this will definitely be a fight to watch come May 23 at UFC 98.
I got Guida in that fight I think he is going to control Diego on the ground the hole fight
I agree Guida is going to get in there and impose his will on Diego.
@BigTayo, not happening Diego is gonna finish Guida on his back, caveman doesn’t even deserve to fight Diego Nate did
Diego is gonna smash Guido and and the steroid shark into pieces
