With just one week to go for his UFC 98 Welterweight matchup against former WEC veteran Brock Larson, Chris Wilson who now trains with Team Nogueira down in Brazil was robbed at gunpoint and was also held up along with his family.

In an article from Slam! Sports by way of the Canadian Press, Wilson explains what happened at his home in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

“As I came into the apartment complex, a guy held me up at gunpoint and then he called his friends. And then a total of five people came up to the apartment. They were armed and my family was in the bathroom – I’ve got two kids – so it was just a terrible situation … they cleaned out whatever they wanted. They were after small stuff, but they took our TV and my laptop, and jewelry. And they took some of the kids’ clothing and Nike tennis shoes, which are expensive down here … Then they put everything in my car, made me take them somewhere. It was just terrible. Wasn’t sure if I was coming back from that one. But it all worked out.”

Fortunately, no one in the Wilson household was harmed and even though he has had to encounter that situation ‘The Professor’ is still going to compete at UFC 98 next Saturday night as scheduled despite the fact that the organization would clearly have understood if had pulled out from the fight.

With that said Wilson will look to bounce back from a split decision loss to John Howard back at UFC 94 this past January.
