Despite a lackluster third round TKO victory over Mark Coleman at UFC 93 in January after coming off of two ACL injuries, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua picked up an impressive first round TKO win over Chuck Liddell last month at UFC 97 to once again prove that he can be a force to reckoned with in the Light Heavyweight. Now the UFC will be looking to reward his efforts with renewal of his contract as he heads out to Las Vegas, Nevada to meet with the organization’s officials. Shogun also gives his input on the UFC 98 main event matchup between Rashad Evans and Lyoto Machida.
In a recent interview with GracieMag.com the former PRIDE veteran banks that his fellow Brazilian countryman will triumph over Rashad due to the fact that there is no sparring partner out there that can do what Machida trains to do for any fight.
Shogun was then asked as to who he may be facing in his next UFC fight and although he is uncertain as to who it may be, butis on his way to getting his contract renewed by the organization.
For now Shogun has stayed in the gym to resume training for whenever the call may come for his next fight, but also it is good to know that he will be sticking around in the UFC for a longer period of time and hopefully, he can continue to get back to the form where he once was as the top 205 pound fighter in the world.
This is great I didnt want to see Shogun on his way out I want to see him destroy Luis Cane now or Thiago Silva after he kills Jardine
