UFC 102 - Brandon Vera: "I’m still goin’ after both them belts"  | read this item

Brandon Vera has always spoken about going after two titles in the UFC, one at Light Heavyweight the other at Heavyweight. While Vera started off hot in the UFC he took a few steps away from that goal when he lost two in a row and then dropped to the 205 pound division. Vera then won his Light Heavyweight debut in less than impressive fashion against Reese Andy at UFC Fight Night 14. He followed the lackluster win up with his third loss in four fights against Keith Jardine when he dropped a close split decision at UFC 89. Vera once again got back on the winning track when he dominated Mike Patt on the UFC 96 undercard finishing him with leg kicks. Vera looked confident and finally comfortable in the 205 pound division.

In a new interview with Fightline.com Brandon revealed while he may have had a few setbacks and is still looking to finish fights and capture two titles in the UFC.

hamill1“Since my loss to Jardine, I don’t give a damn who I’m fighting. You’re the next person in the way for me to get that damn belt. BOTH BELTS!” Vera stated. “I’m still goin’ after both them belts. I don’t give a damn what anybody says, and I don’t care if they just started fighting MMA yesterday or [if] it’s Matt Hamill, Wanderlei Silva, whoever!”
“It doesn’t matter whose in front of me, I’m going to try to finish the fight hardcore,” Vera continued. “I’m in shape . . . I’m trying to punish people now. I told everyone when I first came around, I’m gonna get both f****in’ belts, and I’m gonna get both f****in’ belts!”

We don’t know if Vera would go back to the UFC Heavyweight division after making the cut to 205 pounds, but we imagine the Middleweight division would be a possible destination. While two titles would be nice, Vera still has to concentrate on his upcoming opponent at UFC 102 in Matt Hamill. Hamill will pose a legitimate threat to Vera who is looking to stay hot and establish a few wins on course to any title shot.

We will find out at UFC 102 if Vera can take the first steps to a title with a win over the Ohio native.

What do you guys think about Vera at Middleweight? Do you think he can make the weight and challenge for a title at 185 too?

  2. DanNo Gravatar says:

He looks unhealthy at 205 seriously. He looks very dehydrated at 205 why even bother at 185? Those are 20 lbs lighter…too much for him. He will lose soon.
