As the WEC is still yet to make an announcement for a September event there is one fighter looking to make a return in the fall and that is former Lightweight champion ‘Razor’ Rob McCullough (17-5) who last competed at WEC 39 in the month of March when he picked up a split decision victory over Marcus Hicks.
MMAjunkie.com that Nate Broadnax of MMA Agents says that his client who has been recovering from hand surgery says that McCullough could make a return as soon as September even though there were reports of him probably missing the remainder of the year.
The event which could be expected to go down in the month of September (WEC 43) will likely feature a Lightweight matchup with Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone facing Ben Henderson for an interim 155 pound championship with current champ Jamie Varner still on the mend and a return for ‘Razor’ Rob would help give the show some extra added depth.
McCullough has exchanged wins and losses in his last four fights with losses to Varner for the title and Cerrone to go along with wins over Kenneth Alexander and Marcus Hicks in his last fight, so we will keep you posted on any possible WEC 43 news as soon as something else breaks.
