It appears that Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone and Ben Henderson will in fact face off for the interim Lightweight title on September 2, for WEC 43 and will be competing in front of a crowd in Youngstown, Ohio meaning the promotion will be heading out to the east coast for the event.

According to MMAWeekly.com both Cerrone and Henderson have been given bout agreements and should sign off on them very shortly to make the bout official.

With the WEC making it’s first ever appearance in the state of Ohio it looks to be that the event will be held at the Covelli Center in Youngstown where the venue is the only arena in the city for a major sporting event.

Cerrone who wanted to face current champ Jamie Varner will have to settle for his good friend in Henderson as it was reported earlier this week that Varner still had a fracture on his hand and is not yet ready to come back to action. Cerrone recently competed at WEC 41 where he picked up a late first round submission win over newcomer James Krause.

Meanwhile Henderson who has won both of his WEC fights last fought at WEC 40 where he gained a first round TKO victory over fellow prospect Shane Roller putting him in position for a shot at the interim Lightweight championship.

We will keep you posted on any further details in regards to the expected WEC 43 in the weeks to come.
