It did not take long after Mike Swick began talking about a possible fight against Martin Kampmann it appears there are now also rumors that the two may face off at UFC 103 in Dallas, Texas on September 19. There was a previous rumor that Swick could possibly face off against Matt Hughes (click here to read), but so far none of those rumors have been substantiated.
The latest report comes from MMAWeekly.com which states that both Swick and Martin Kampmann have verbally agreed to face off at UFC 103, but have not signed their bout agreements yet.
Mike Swick (14-2) is coming into this bout on a 4 fight win steak and two of those were by impressive knockouts of Jonathan Goulet (Fight for the Troops) and Ben Saunders at UFC 99 a few weeks ago.
Martin Kampmann (15-2) is coming into this fight on a two fight win streak since dropping to the 170 pound weight class. He has won 6 of 7 fights overall and turned down a previous offer to fight TJ Grant at The Ultimate Fighter 9 finale (read here).
Kampmann turned down his bout against Grant because he wanted to face someone in contention for a title after his win over former WEC Welterweight champion Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 18.
At the UFC 99 post fight presser Mike Swick also expressed interest in fighting the divisons best fighters in route to a title shot.
Now both fighters will get their wish and possibly may be fighting for the number one contenders spot in the Welterweight divison.
This makes more sense then that other rumor cause there are no contenders for the winner of Gsp vs Alves after 100 unless Alves wins and there could be a rematch but after that nothing at all
