As we reported to you yesterday Tito Ortiz claimed that he is in talks with StrikeForce and will return to action soon. In his latest interview Ortiz talked about possibly fighting Fedor Emelianenko after his back is healed and he returns to action.

MMAWeekly.com caught up to Ortiz who spoke about his new deal that he is working on with StrikeForce, CBS and ShowTime.

“I’m in negotiations right now with Strikeforce and working with CBS and Showtime, so all three of us are going back and forth to make a contract that makes sense to me,” he told MMAWeekly.com recently.
“Hopefully by October I’ll be competing. We’re finishing the contract I’d say with CBS, Showtime, and Strikeforce and making a deal that UFC can’t match.”

The former UFC Light Heavyweight champion also spoke about his first opponent once he returns to the Cage in a “Warm up” fight. He said he would like to face off against former PRIDE Heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko in a catch weight bout as well sometime in 2010.

fedor_8ee2bbd4851“I feel sorry for the person they have me fight, but I do need one warm-up fight,” he said. “I managed to come off a huge back surgery. It’s been a year since I’ve competed. I think one warm-up fight to get things going.”
“After that, I don’t want no more warm-up fights. I’m hoping by my fourth fight, possibly fight Fedor Emelianenko at a catch-weight. That’d be something that I’m looking forward to possibly by the middle of next year.”

What are your thoughts on a Fedor Emelianenko vs Tito Ortiz fight?

Tit-0 should just sign with someone already how is he going to sign with Strikeforce and fight Fedor if he fights for Affliction? The whole statement males no sense

  3. FujitaNo Gravatar says:

That is a mighty big dream

I don’t see Fedor ever going for a catchweight though, We all know Tito off season weighs more like 220

Arlovski was under the affliction banner when he fought Rogers so the fight could happen, but i wouldn’t be interested in seeing it.

I’d rather watch Ken Shamrock fight Tank Abbott than pay, IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM, to see Dookie McCrossEyes fight on showtime or ANY OTHER fight organization, unless of course, it is the INTER-MONGOLIAN MARTIAL ARTS TOUR DE FRANCE PUNISHMENT FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS OF THE WORLD-WORLD-WORLD-WORLD!!!!!!

I was a Tito fan until he stopped fighting and running his mouth.

Why the fuck would Fedor cut weight to fight this chump?

    • HellboiNo Gravatar says:

@Mike&Ike, for a quick buck and a even faster win this would make sense for Fedor to do on CBS, but Tito is full of shit and it wont happen. No one knows who Fedor is and this would get good ratings on CBS.

I really don’t care to see the fight that much…there are lots more fighters I would rather see fight Fedor then tito ortiz coming back from a long break.

But then again I suppose it would be amusing to see Fedor dismantle another ex UFC champ, but really I want to see him fight the current UFC HW stable, but thats a whole other topic.
