One fighter that has held his own in the UFC Light Heavyweight division is Brazilian striker Luiz ‘Banha’ Cane who has been in some really good fights since making his debut inside the Octagon at UFC 79 in December of 2007 and is now 3-1 in four fights and had an all out war against former WEC Light Heavyweight champion Steve Cantwell at UFC 97 this past April, but now wants top name competition and one fighter that comes to his mind is former UFC Middleweight champion Rich ‘Ace’ Franklin.
In an interview with MMAjunkie.com Cane says that he will face anybody the organization puts in front of him, but has a desire to face the top guys in the 205 pound weight class at the same time.
Cane feels that the organization gave him a great fight with Steve Cantwell at UFC 97 even though he was originally scheduled to face Keith Jardine who was instead given Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson at UFC 96 a month earlier. However, Cane feels a fight with Rich Franklin would suit him perfectly and most importantly wants to get close into the title picture in the process.
Hoping for a fight in the fall, Banha has been training with one of the best camps in American Top Team and is ready to fight whenever the UFC wants to put him back out there whether it is against Franklin or anybody else.
Fan Question: Should the UFC give Luiz Cane a fight with Rich Franklin?
I think Cane could KO Franklin if they fight I wanna see that badly
