I have been meaning to cover this for a while now, but I have not had the chance. This all started when Large Midget of CagePotato.com’s  forums had the idea of how awesome it would be to hear someone chant Fedor’s name before, during and after UFC 100′s main event bout between Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar.

“I was just thinking how cool it would be if the crowd chanted Fedor’s name before/during/after the upcoming heavyweight belt unification match. Dana would probably shit his pants, and then hopefully get out the checkbook.

The point is of course that this fight doesn’t truly determine the best heavyweight in the world because Fedor is still #1. Consider this the beginning of a virally coordinated effort to make this happen.”

After Large Midget’s idea, a website called FedorChant.com was made to get this idea into full swing and into an actual viral effort. Here is the video below from their website on their plan to chant “Fedor….Fedor….Fedor” during UFC 100.

Fedor Chant’s mission statement is to let the UFC know that their fans feel anyone who is holding their Heavyweight title is a “Paper champ”, because Fedor own 7 wins over 5 UFC champions.

So far CagePotato.com, BloodyElbow.com, The UnderGround and Sherdog.com’s members have decided to also join in this viral campaign as well. I have even heard rumors that Tom Atencio (probably not true) said he was willing to pay and put someone in the front row for UFC 100 to chant his name as well.

We will find out this weekend if anyone will do this and now I have another reason to watch UFC 100, can’t wait.
