This past weekend current StrikeForce Heavyweight ‘Big’ Lavar Johnson was among four other victims who were shot at a family reunion celebration on Independence Day in Bakersfield, California where he was fighting for his life, but it now appears that after he had undergone surgery and is now upgaded to be in stable condition.
Johnson who was shot in the abdomen which required the surgery is reported of his status by a representative in Johnson’s management team over at Zinkin Entertainment told MMAWeekly.com that Johnson had successful surgery and is now stable.
As mentioned in a previous report Johnson recently competed for StrikeForce in the month of May where he picked up a first round KO of Carl Seumanutafa in 18 seconds of the first round and was in negotiations with the San Jose based organization to compete on the upcoming August 15 card were he was slated to take on former PRIDE and EliteXC veteran James ‘The Colossus’ Thompson according to Sherdog.com.
Johnson who is with an MMA record of 12-3 will more than likely be out for quite a long time, but even though it was a very tragic weekend with one of the victims being killed on the scene Johnson can hopefully make a full recovery. Get well soon, Lavar!
Thats good to hear you never like hearing stuff like this especially after what happened to Steve McNair this weekend
