Yesterday the Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced the upcoming UFC Fight Night 19 event which will take place at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on September 16 and will feature a Lightweight matchup with Nate Diaz (10-4) taking on Melvin Guillard (22-7-2) in the main event and after losing in his last two outings Diaz is pleased at the idea of having a stand-up battle with ‘The Young Assassin’.
At a press conference to announce the card Nate Diaz says that it will be a good fight between two guys who will stand and trade shots and adds that it won’t be a fight with two guys holding one another.
Diaz has faced Clay Guida and Joe Stevenson in his last two bouts in fights where Diaz was not able to use most of his striking and was kept grounded for the majority of both matchups in route to victories for both Guida and Stevenson and with Guillard not relatively known for his ground game will definitely get his wish come UFC Fight Night 19, but in five wins inside the Octagon Guillard has four of those wins by knockout, so Diaz will have to take that under consideration that it could be a bad idea to stand and trade with Melvin for this fight.
However, I could be wrong and Diaz may have the advantage as well, but until then we will see what happens on September 16 as the UFC makes it’s first.appearance in the Sooner state since dating all the way back to UFC 4 in 1994.

After that event, you still will have not seen a Diaz knocked out. Guillard is not a bad fighter, but i don’t think he possesses the length and skill necessary to get inside on Diaz. But I got Diaz by Sub in the second.
