UFC 100: Randy Couture doesn’t like Frank Mir’s gameplan for Brock Lesnar

As we all have heard from Frank Mir in past interviews he wants to test Brock Lesnar’s endurance in the Octagon, he wants to keep the fight standing and pick him apart from the outside. Randy Couture does not agree with that strategy and says he knows first hand standing in front of Brock Lesnar is not the greatest idea.
In his latest interview with Cage Writer’s Steve Cofield catches up to former UFC Heavyweight champion Randy Couture.
“I just don’t know if that’s the right gameplan. To try and stay outside of a guy that long and big, and pick at him, because it doesn’t too many of those [Lesnar shots], I can attest to, to make your night short.”
He also says that Mir’s best bet would probably be to get this fight to the ground where he can get a submission like he did at UFC 81.
“I would think Mir would still try to get it to the ground. Get him out of position, get him over-aggressive. As he has a tendency to do and find a way to submit him again.”
What would be your strategy against Brock Lesnar (if you were Frank Mir) at UFC 100, would you take the fight to the ground or keep it standing and try to pick off Lesnar while risking getting knocked out?

I agree with Randy on this one Mira best chance would probably be to get Brock down some how he beat Nog and now he thinks he is 2006 Cro Cop
@Hellboi, do all of you realize that Mir took Lesnars punch at 81 and didn’t go out and it was a better punch then the one that beat Couture
We haven’t seen Brock take a punch yet from Mir or a good striker for all we know he has a glass jaw and will get KO’d

Mir is smoking crack if he thinks he’s gonna stand and trade with Lesnar. i was watching the countdown the other night and i don’t know what mazzagatti’s beef with Lesnar was but he is the only reason Mir won. and tell me why he stood the fight up for some bullshit that normally gets a verbal warning, but then waits until the 200th time brock taps to stop the fight?
Mir DID look good striking, against Nog…but Nog was hurt, and let’s not forget how long he’s been around…Brock will be throwing cinderblocks, and alllllll it will take is just ONE. Ask Heath Herring, hell, ask Randy Couture, who in my HUMBLE opinion, is a better champ and fighter AND man than Mir can ever hope to be.
@Rick Johnson, Mir now thinks that he is the next coming of Chuck Liddell at HW cause he KO’d Nog but he has been slowly looking old since the Herring fight an If you go back and look at his fight against Nog he took a lot of hits too his head movement isn’t that good
@Hellboi, i agree with you, make no mistakes about it, if Mir doesn’t move his head, Brock will take it off. Mir doesn’t need to worry about snapping a leg or an arm. He NEEDS to worry about his face and those canned hams of Brock’s.

I can’t believe what I just read. I think Mi really has been embibing the meth on the mean streets of south central. Why are all these fighters so stupid to think they can win by fighting another guys game. Mir is done if this is his plan. So be it. The only way Mir will win is by sub. At this rate I call Brock over Mir by bleeding ears & nose & severe concussion. Mir disappoints me. He had such an opportunity to be my hero too ;(
I agree with Couture, Mir best strategy would be to bring the fight to the ground.
I think Mir is playing head games with brock.
He’s not going to reveal his real gameplan to everyone. He’s making everyone believe that he is going to pick lesnar apart in the stand up.
