UFC 102: James Irvin suffers another knee injury, out for 6 to 10 months | read this item

James Irvin has not had the best luck as of late, he was coming off of a suspension for using banned pain killers during his loss to Anderson Silva at Ultimate Fight Night 14 and set to return at UFC 98. He was supposed to return against the always dangerous Drew McFedries, but suffered a knee injurywhich forced him to withdraw from the card. Now it appears that Irvin has re-aggravated the same injury and will also be out for his fight at UFC 102 against Wilson Gouveia.

Dave Carmichael had the scoop and reported the injury on the Underground Forums which was passed along by BloodyElbow.com.

“Sacramento based fighter James Irvin has suffered another massive setback in his oft-injured career, this time with a massive knee injury. He will obviously not be able to face Wilson Gouveia at UFC 102. Irvin is expected to undergo reconstructive surgery sometime in the next few days, and is also expected to miss 6-10 months.”

This is obviously a big blow to Irvin’s come back, but we wish him luck and hope he gets back into the Octagon soon and knocking out opponents again.

The UFC has not made a official announcement about Irvin’s injury, but we will keep you up to date as soon as we hear if Gouveia will get a new opponent or if the bout will be scratched all together.
