Over the last week their has been a re-shuffling of Affliction’s stable of fighters with some going to StrikeForce, UFC and WEC. One of those big name fighters was former DREAM Middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi who will still be facing Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral for the StrikeForce Light Heavyweight championship at the promotion’s next big fight card next Saturday night from San Jose, California. However with the UFC claiming that they have absorbed most or all of Affliction’s contracts did his representatives over at M-1 Global mislead ‘The Young Vagabond’ on a deal that would have had him compete inside the Octagon instead?
While speaking with Fighters Only Mousasi who signed a three fight deal with StrikeForce says despite other reports on his current status he will honor his deal with the San Jose based promotion.
And when asked about his management team possibly misleading him about a contract offer that was proposed by the UFC, Mousasi wished not to comment or shed any light on the situation, but know that he will be competing for StrikeForce over the course of the next year.
The UFC has since sent over a cease and desist letter to StrikeForce as CEO Scott Coker has confirmed that on a recent edition of TapouT Radio, but did say that everything will still go according to plan and the Mousasi vs Babalu bout will still be going down on August 15.
It has to make you wonder though if M-1 Global are doing some shady negotiations of their own as far as dealing with offers being proposed to them by the UFC in regards to Mousasi and most notably withFedor Emelianenko, I mean the reports are out there one minute they say that the UFC made a very generous offer on one hand and then the next minute there are reports that the UFC try to “fuck Fedor” with a deal.
Not to get off to talking more about Fedor, but when it comes to M-1 there are alway sa few different stories. Would you agree or disagree?
