Frank Mir knows his training partner Forrest Griffin is a big underdog coming into his bout at UFC 101: Declaration against Anderson Silva, but the former Heavyweight champion feels he is the perfect opponent to beat the Brazilian.
Cagewriter.com quoted Mir in a interview with KRKO’s Jeff Arron where he said he feels Forrest’s ugly fighting style is the key to beating Anderson Silva.
“The one thing that maybe could be a wrench in [Silva's] machine and his style, is that he is so great of a counter fighter. He’s so skilled with these movements. If I could pick a guy that could beat him, it’s a guy that could rough him up. Okay, fight ugly, fight mean, come forward. Are you gonna take a shot or two?”Mir also said that Griffin can not afford to go blow for blow against the Middleweight champion, but feels his work ethic will pull him through the fight.
I have to agree with Mir that Forrest style of fighting can pose a threat to Silva, because you never know where he is coming from. As for the outcome, now that is another story.
We have heard on several occassions that a fighters style is “Made” to beat Anderson Silva and 9 times Silva walked out with a win.
This does it. Locked in. Now that Mir says Forrest can win, No doubt. Silva.
