Faber vs Brown 3, in the UFC?

Many observers have expressed their opinions in the past on a possible UFC and WEC merger in the past, but Dana White has made it clear in the past that he wants to keep the two promotions separated. We imagine that the reason is because the WEC has contracts with Versus to air on cable TV and the UFC’s contracts to air exclusively on Spike may prevent any merger from happening.

Today at the UFC 101: Declaration ”Q&A” session that there have been talks in the company about possibly merging the two promotions, but he did not give any other details other then the possibility.

WEC Versus want a longterm relationship

“We’re talking about that right now,” White confirmed when asked about a merger between the UFC and WEC.

If the White and Zuffa did decide to bring the WEC and UFC together this means stars such as Urijah Faber, Miguel Torres, Brian Bowles, Mike Brown and many others would finally get the backing they deserve. I have expressed my opinions on this issue before in the past and swapping the WEC label for the UFC’s would bring Versus an immediate ratings spike.

The one hurdle that could probably stop this from happening would be Spike TV who owns the UFC’s rights to air on Cable TV. Unless the UFC strikes a deal that would let them air the 145 pound division and below on Versus exclusively.

We don’t know what the future holds, but I like hearing talk of Miguel Torres, Urijah Faber, Mike Brown and the WEC’s fighters as UFC fighters much better.

Thoughts?

I dont know how smart this is the UFC is trying to kill off any other names in the sport for no dumb reason and the WEC isnt competition

If they do this then all those fighters are gonna get half as many fights if not none.

This is more reason to need more orgs cuz the ufc will have to put on an event every weekend just so that the fighters don’t starve to death from no work. They’ll have too many fighters & no shows to put them in. I’d love to have a contract with the ufc & get one fight every 2 years cuz everyone else needs their share.

I’m more for them changing WEC to UFC 2 or UFC Jr. than combining them.

I want to see Faber vs Florian in a gatekeeper fight looser leave to Dream

I would say it’s about time they get paid like they should..but still it means less events for me to watch in general so it sucks..WEC 41 was TOO good!

Maybe instead of making them “UFC” just pay em more and let us enjoy it the way it is?:|
