Michael Bisping confirms that Wanderlei Silva had facial surgery, may be out until 2010 | read this item

Remember the picture from earlier today which showed Wanderlei Silva after a rumored facial surgery? Well it turns out that after everyone was fooled and those pictures were not of someone else, it was Wanderlei Silva. Michael Bisping who was rumored to be facing off against Silva at UFC 105, confirmed the “Axe Murderer’s” facial surgery today in his personal Blog.

On his personal Blog, Bisping also stated he has heard rumors that Silva may be out the rest of 2010 as well.

“Quick update on the potential Wanderlei Silva fight. Unfortunately that’s not gonna happen. He’s undergone facial surgery, so obviously won’t be fighting in the near future. Rumours are he’s actually out for the rest of the year.”

Bisping also stated there were no new updates on a possible opponent for his fight at UFC 105.

“So as of right now, Im still unaware of who I’ll be facing at UFC 105. Obviously as stated before, when I know, you know.”

Michael Bisping is coming off of a loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 100, he will need a ranked opponent to get back on track for a title shot. While most of the top contenders in the Middleweight division are currently booked for fights. It will be interesting to see if Bisping is thrown against the winner of the Demian Maia vs Nate Marquardt bout later this month.

As we all know the UFC is looking to keep Bisping in line for a title shot at a future show in The U.K, this would be the way to get him lined up for that title shot as soon as possible.

As we all know Bisping’s next opponent can not be another career journey man in order to make a case for a title shot.
