Earlier today the Nevada State Athletic Commission has passed and approved a new rule which will allow instant replay towards the end of a Mixed Martial Arts bout. Which means the sanctioned referee for a matchup will be able to take a second look at the finish of a fight should it end in some controversy.
MMAWeekly.com got to speak with NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer said that the rule will take effect in a matter of 30 days as all five members of the commission passed the rule by unanimous vote.
The new instant replay will now be able to determine the outcome of a fight should an illegal foul such as an eye poke or a kick to the groin will be caught and make a final decision of a bout down the line.
One of the bigger reasons for a push of instant replay was the Welterweight bout with Anthony Johnson facing Kevin Burns at UFC Fight Night 14 last July when Burns inadvertantly poked Johnson in the eye giving Burns the win by TKO in the third round.
However, Johnson was able to exact revenge a few months later at The Ultimate Fighter season 8 finale when he scored a third round KO victory by head kick.
