One of the busiest fighters in the UFC over the last year welterweight Josh Koscheck had a bad start to the 2009 campaign by suffering a first round knockout loss to Paulo Thiago in February at UFC 95 where Koscheck was vividly upset with the stoppage and was supposed to compete as early as the month of May, but a foot injury put him on the sidelines up until now for UFC 103 next Saturday night where he will be taking on the returning Frank Trigg as Koscheck has also decided to get back to the basics where he became one of the top welterweight fighters in the division.
While speaking to MMAWeekly.com Radio, Koscheck who has opened an American Kickboxing Academy gym of his own in Fresno, California says that he has brought in a strength and conditioning for the first time since getting into MMA five years ago.
Following the stunning KO loss at UFC 95, Koscheck asked UFC matchmaker Joe Silva to get him back in the Octagon as soon as possible and is pleased to be facing Frank Trigg upon his return from injury.
And for this bout with Trigg the former Ultimate Fighter season 1 standout has gone back to working on his bread and butter which is his wrestling after trying to round out his overall game in the stand-up battle over the last five fights and is focused only on the longtime veteran for this fight before looking to bigger and better things in the future.
