Here is a rumor that is going to put a big smile on the face of every MMA fan on the East Coast, including myself. It appears that StrikeForce’s Fedor Emelianenko vs Brett Rogers heavyweight bout may take place in New Jersey on October 10.
According to MMALive’s Twitter the fight may take place on the East Coast, which could show M-1’s first actual influence over the West Coast promotion.
Usually StrikeForce’s events take place in California, where they already have a big fan base. StrikeForce is virtually unknown in New York by casual UFC fans, but is well known amongst the hardcore MMA fans. That was evident when Fedor showed up to Manhattan a few weeks ago to officially announce his fight against Brett Rogers.
Another factor is the strong Russian communities from New York where Affliction began to market Fedor. StrikeForce and M-1 may choose to use this strategy to peak the interest of those fans and get them to take the trip to New Jersey to watch him fight.
I guess we will find out more on this week’s edition of MMA Live, apparently Franklin McNeil has been talking to people again (LOL).
I hope Brett doesn’t over look the fact that Fedor can bench 400 for reps & yet doesn’t even weight train anymore.
