Cheick Kongo was only one win away from a title shot against Brock Lesnar, but the man who stood in his way was up and coming Heavyweight prospect Cain Velasquez at UFC 99. Things did not turn out well for Kongo who was taken down at will and pounded in the head over 250 times in a unanimous decision loss. Now Kongo will once again look to get into title contention with a win at UFC 107 against former champion Frank Mir.
Cheick Kongo tells CageReport.net that he is focused on Mir at UFC 107, but feels he is “owed” a shot at Brock Lesnar after taking the fight against Velasquez on short notice.
As we all know a title shot in the UFC is never given or owed, it has to be earned. Kongo may not get an immediate title shot with a win over Frank Mir, but it would be a good start.
How many wins do you think Kongo would need before he gets a future shot at the title?

I would rather see Kongo face Gonzaga than Caine.
@Lipton drift, yeah cuz caine punched him in the head 251 times when they fought a few months back. if this dude thinks for a second he stands a chance against Brock he needs another CAT scan.
@keets kizzle, True. No such thing as “Owe U” in title shots..and Lesnar would eat him alive..even if he works on his wrestling starting today til he dies:)
Brock would literally kill Cheick Kongo to death.
@dale, literally.
@dale, Kongo got pwned by Carmelo Marrero he should ask the UFC to do him a favor and never book him against brock
