I know a lot of people will not agree with me on the following opinion, but I still think if Fedor Emelianenko gets passed Brett Rogers this fall there is one man who still has a legitimate shot at beating the “Last Emperor”. That man is Josh Barnett. While his positive test for a banned performance enhancing test is widely considered to be the reason Affliction collapsed, we also know the promotion was looking to sell to the Zuffa a week before UFC 100. While it is easy to kick on someone while they are down, I still want to see Barnett fight Fedor he is signed with StrikeForce.

I got a chance to echo those sentiments to Barnett last night on Twitter and asked him if he plans on returning to the U.S to fight again, he replied with one word.

“Absolutely.”

We know that StrikeForce is still having trouble getting Alistair Overeem to defend his Heavyweight title and most people consider their Heavyweight division to be light in terms of competition for Fedor. Fabricio Werdum comes to mind, but is not considered to be a legit threat to Fedor.

While we do not know what the future holds, as I told Barnett in my message to him yesterday I still think he has unfinished business here and winning could bring him redemption.
